Brian Jr. is in a small group of young men and women who are in the final phase of the selection process for an Army ROTC 4-year scholarship.  He has several universities to which he may apply.  He intends on applying to the University of Minnesota ROTC program.

He has completed the Defense Medical Review Board physical. The next steps for him are to take a physical fitness test and complete an interview with the Professor of Military Science at the University on November 13.

I am absolutely certain that he has exactly what it takes to be a superb platoon leader and Army Officer.  My Army will be a better place with this young man in a leadership position.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he pursues this dream.

FLY ROTC

Were you born to fly? To soar above the ground, behind the throttle of the most-sophisticated, high-tech helicopters in the world? The Army ROTC Helicopter Flight Training Program at the University of North Dakota will give you that opportunity — and a jumpstart on your life.

The only program of its kind in the country, UND's Army ROTC Helicopter Flight Training Program gives you the chance to earn your flight certifications and go to college at the same time. You'll learn valuable leadership and management skills. Skills that can help you rise above your peers in a military or professional career. And you'll graduate a commissioned officer in the finest army in the world.

To succeed in our program, you need more than a desire to fly. You need the strength to lead, the composure to keep cool under pressure and the overwhelming desire to succeed.

Brian continues to shine on the SBH football team.  He plays multiple roles on offense (tight end/guard/tackle) on defense (MLB/OLB?Def End) and on all special teams.  He continues to play through the adversity of an on-going ankle injury.

Brian is concurrently doing his prep for the ROTC physical Fitness test.  He also has significantly increased his overall GPA in  the past two trimesters.

His plate is full and there have been no complaints.  This is "character-building" stuff.

PS: if you haven't figured, "character building" is a euphemism for something you must do, successfully, no matter the "suck factor".
